A global survey of young people aged 16 to 25 reveals a profound sense of betrayal regarding government responses to the climate crisis. With a majority of respondents reporting feelings of helplessness and anxiety that impact their daily functioning, the perceived inadequacy of state action has become a tangible social cost. This disconnect between the urgency of the environmental threat and the pace of policy response suggests that the success of future strategies will depend not only on technical innovation but on the ability of institutions to validate the distress of the generation most affected by these decisions.
